ABOUT THE P&F

The Glenaeon Parents & Friends Association builds community among the parent body and provides support to the teachers, management and Council for the delivery of high quality Steiner education to the children of the school.

All parents of current students are members of the P&F Association. The affairs of the Association are managed by the Steering Group - a committee of parent volunteers elected annually by the parent body. The Steering Group works in partnership with the School Council and the Management Group thus forming what is known as the "three pillars" of Glenaeon's school structure.

The key areas of focus for the P&F are:
• Community Building - fostering a spirit of community within the school by creating opportunities for being involved and coming together as a community.
• Communication - both between parents and between the parent body as a whole and the school. The P&F informally represents parents' views and acts as a sounding board for the Management & Council when they require parent feedback on issues and planned initiatives.
• Support to Parents - via the provision of services such as the "Shelf Shop", the Parent Library, Parent Craft workshops, and Parent Education lectures, as well as providing guidance and direction to Class Parents in their role.
• Fundraising - raising funds for projects and resources that would not otherwise be financed; as well as supporting the Bursary program.
• Community Involvement - fostering a culture of volunteerism within the school, and actively mobilizing parents to support Glenaeon with their time, energy, special talents or skills.



BE INVOLVED...

The P&F is the vehicle by which the parent body contributes its time, energy and support to the teachers and students of Glenaeon.

Parents commit, on school entry, to active participation in P&F activities. Participation is welcomed at many levels and in various ways, for example:
• as Steering Group members of the Association
• as Class Parents
• as rostered helpers for functions and fundraising events
• as members of committees
• and as classroom helpers for activities such as reading, craft, cooking, bushwalking, etc.

Each term there is a General Meeting for all members of the P&F Association, and all parents are warmly encouraged to attend. The 2009 General Meeting dates are:
Term 1 - Monday 16 February
Term 2 - Monday 18 May
Term 3 - Monday 17 August
Term 4 - Monday 9 October (AGM)

In addition the Steering Group meets regularly throughout the school terms to conduct the business of the Association - these meetings are open to all Association members.
